In October of 1971, thirty women, all new to the Reading area met to organize the Welcome Wagon Club of Greater Reading. The realization of "People needing people" laid the foundation for our Club as we know it today.

The purpose of the Welcome Wagon Club, then as well as now, was to help those new to the area become acquainted with their neighbors and their community.

Over the years, participation in various special interest groups, social activities and civic projects has enabled over 1000 women to establish roots in the Greater Reading area, making their new homes happier.
